Why is hemp drying important?

When hemp is dried and processed properly, the quality of hemp produced is much greater. Traditionally, farmers hang hemp plants in barns, where it would take 7-10 days for the crop to dry. This process is time-consuming, expensive, requires a great deal of resources to maintain and limits the amount of hemp farmers can produce at each harvest. Hemp growers who want to increase production, and do so quickly, require a drying method that matches the needs of their demand. Fortunately, great strides have since been taken to remedy this lengthy process.

A faster approach

The Advanced Hemp Dryer is capable of drying a minimum of 2,000 whole plants in a 16-20-hour period. This translates into roughly 500 lbs of wet biomass per hour. Because our dryers drastically decrease the time it takes to dry the crop, hemp farmers can significantly increase production and scale business.

Our design

Our patented design consists of two parts, the drying unit and advanced hemp dryer. The mobile drying unit is 53’ long, 100” wide, and has a 40% open drying floor. The advanced dryer can have its temperature regulated with the built-in thermostat, allowing each grower to dry at their desired temperature.  The temperature on the thermostat ranges from 70-120º F. The heat source in our dryer is intended to “condition” the air, not make it HOT. This creates an environment where conditioned air can dry the hemp in a uniform and efficient manner to maximize crop output and retain quality. By drying at these lower temperatures, the grower can avoid the decarboxylation process that occurs at higher temperatures.
